The Carney Police Department is Wishing You a Safe & Happy Memorial Day Weekend! 🌭☀️🚓
As we kick off the unofficial start of summer, your Carney Police Department wants to wish everyone a safe, fun, and respectful Memorial Day weekend. Whether you're firing up the grill, hitting the road, or soaking up the sun—safety comes first!
👮♂️ Here's a few friendly reminders to help keep the holiday happy:
• Drive sober or get pulled over 🚗❌🍹 — Plan ahead with a designated driver or rideshare. On average, about 11,000 people die in DUI (driving under the influence) crashes each year in the United States!
• Watch your speed — We know the BBQ is calling, but let’s keep our roads safe for everyone. 🐢➡️🐇
• Water safety matters 💦 — Keep a close eye on swimmers and always wear life jackets when boating.
• Grill responsibly 🍔🔥 — Stay alert and keep grills away from buildings and dry brush.
• Be ATV aware 🛻🪖 — Always wear a helmet, follow the rules of the trail, and never ride under the influence. Around 1 in 5 fatalities involve children under the age of 16. Many ATV fatalities involve rollovers, lack of helmet use, riding with passengers, and riding on roads (instead of trails designed for ATVs).
• Be kind, be patient — Holiday crowds can test anyone’s nerves. A little courtesy goes a long way!
We’ll be out there with you, keeping our community safe while rooting for sunny skies and slow traffic. 💙
From our family to yours: Stay safe, stay smart, and don’t forget the sunscreen! ☀️🕶️
