Last evening fire company personnel practiced assembly and demonstrated proper use of our stokes basket wheeled rescue system. This is one of the many different rescue tools own by the fire company. On sat for the second time this season this tool - rescue system was utilized for a rescue on the Kane mt. Trail system successfully extricating an injured hiker. Proficiency is import to deploy this basket and timely removal of injured hikers. Assisting in the rescue were are teammates St. Johnsville Ambulance - SAVAC, NYS Forest Ranger. All coordination of the rescue operation was done by Communication Specialists at the Fulton County 911 center. Fulton County Sheriff's Office. Rescue pictures submitted by the patient

I’m proud to have sponsored legislation that increases the tax credit for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers, providing meaningful financial recognition to the men and women who give their time, put themselves in harm’s way, and keep our communities safe.

As recruitment and retention challenges continue, we must do everything we can to support those who show up for us. This legislation is a tangible way to say thank you for their service and sacrifice.

Today the Caroga Lake fire company had the honor of participating In the final alarm for Piseco Vol Fire Depart Chief Steve Woehrle who recently passed away in the line of duty. The funeral detail started in the Village of Northville up route 30 to the village of Speculator for memorial service with final interment at Piseco lake .

At 1154 last evening the fire company responded to an “on star” crash alarm detection for a motor vehicle accident on state highway 29a at hohler Road Town of Caroga last evening. The fire company responded with an ems fly car, rescue truck and an engine with 10 personnel. Upon arrival a large suv was found off the highway on its side with the driver trapped inside. The vehicle was stabilized, windshield removed and a partial roof roll down was conducted. The driver was extricated in approximately 1 hour treat by medics from St. Johnsville Ambulance - SAVAC. And transported to a local hospital. Also assisting at the scene Fulton County Sheriff's Office. And New York State police. Fire dept personnel and equipment were back in service at 0100. The Fulton county 911 communication center communication specialist coordinated all response
