Clarke Mosquito Control has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a mosquito sample collected near St. Charles Road and Westgate Drive in Carol Stream.
As part of the Village's ongoing mosquito control program, Clarke Mosquito Control is scheduled to conduct a Village-wide adult mosquito control application on ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐. The application will take place from dusk to dawn, weather permitting. This application is intended to help reduce the adult mosquito population and minimize the risk of West Nile Virus transmission.
There have been no reported human cases of West Nile Virus in Carol Stream this year. Residents are encouraged to help reduce mosquito breeding by eliminating standing water around their homes and to protect themselves from mosquito bites by using EPA-approved insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when outdoors, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak mosquito activity when possible.
