ANNOUNCING

The purpose of BEACH TOWN MAYORS is to present an unofficial history of Carolina Beach politics, focusing on the 40 YEAR PERIOD beginning in 1981 and running through 2021, for the following reasons:

​​​1981 is when the voters of Carolina Beach decided that the office of mayor should be elected directly by the people, rather than chosen by members of the Town Council. ​​

2021 represents the accomplishments of LeAnn Pierce, the first woman ever elected to the position of Mayor of Carolina Beach. The focus of this site ends at this point, since LeAnn has decided not to run for re-election as Mayor of Carolina Beach.

BEACH TOWN MAYORS is not meant to be an exhaustive history of Carolina Beach politics. On the contrary, It is designed to be a "look back" at the the elected officials who made Carolina Beach what it is today WITHOUT the criticism, slander, accusations, or innuendo that often accompanies local politics.

Hopefully, BEACH TOWN MAYORS will cause many Carolina Beach "locals" to come forward and share their stories, memories, and pictures. I hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane, and look forward to your comments, thoughts, suggestions, and questions.
