If your Memorial Day Weekend plans include drinking alcohol, make sure to designate a sober driver whether you’re in a vehicle or on a boat. Starting May 28, the Wildlife Commission, North Carolina State Highway Patrol and MADD North Carolina will kick off the annual “On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign with events and safety check points throughout the state on Memorial Day Weekend.

Law enforcement officers will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and promoting public awareness to deter impaired operation of cars and boats on various bodies of water and highways. In North Carolina, a driver or vessel operator with a blood-alcohol concentration that meets or exceeds .08 or is substantially impaired by alcohol and/or drugs, is subject to arrest.

The multi-agency safety initiative works to reduce alcohol-related incidents on the state’s roadways and waterways, both which see increased traffic during summer months.

The tradition continues! The Carolina Beach Elementary School Annual Water Balloon Fight provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year…and cool off in the record heat. CBPD and CBFD joined parents, teachers, and members of the community to recognize and applaud our students with a friendly water balloon battle. Enjoy the summer, students and teachers…you deserve it!

Memorial Day Click It or Ticket It Campaign Kicks Off
Law enforcement will conduct checkpoints May 24-June 6, 2021

As the busy summer traveling season nears, state transportation officials are reminding people to wear their seat belts to reduce the risk of being seriously injured or killed. More than 500 people who were not wearing seat belts or buckled into child safety seats died in vehicle crashes on North Carolina roadways last year.

The State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies will have Click It or Ticket checkpoints at various locations around the state, starting today and lasting through June 6.

North Carolina law requires all passengers in a vehicle to be properly restrained and violations are punishable by fines of up to $180. Children younger than 8 years and under 80 pounds must be properly restrained in an approved child safety seat or booster seat. If a passenger under 16 is not properly restrained, the driver faces a $266 fine.

Be safe and buckle up!

04/05/2021

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Deputy Brandon Gore and to our neighbors at Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, on the loss of Deputy Gore after a month-long battle with COVID. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are saddened to share, our friend and co-worker, Deputy Brandon Gore, has lost his courageous battle with COVID.

We are heartbroken. Deputy Gore was a kind and gentle soul, which made him a perfect fit to care for the animals at BCSO Animal Protective Services. He was always willing to help anyone in need, both at work and in his personal life. He had a genuinely cheerful heart and always greeted everyone with a smile. He will be terribly missed by all of us at the Sheriff’s Office, especially by those with whom he was especially close, and those he worked with every day at the animal shelter.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents and family.

Rest easy our dear brother and friend; we’ll take it from here.
