MOSQUITO SPRAY IN CAROLINA BEACH-7/28

New Hanover County will spray for mosquitoes in Carolina Beach on Wednesday, July 28th.

When spraying for mosquitoes, NHC Mosquito Control:

•Uses ultra-low volume (ULV) sprayers with a range of roughly 300 feet
•Uses EPA-approved pesticides at minimum application rates – the small, low volume pesticide droplets degrade rapidly, leaving little or no residue
•Sprays in the evenings and at night when mosquitoes are most active
•Does not spray when winds are above 10 mph to maintain control of treated areas

#NHCgov Mosquito Control will spray in the South 421, Sunset/Greenfield, Carolina Beach, Myrtle Grove & Castle Hayne areas of the county. Remember to #TipAndToss standing water in coolers, toys, or plant saucers to help prevent mosquitoes. Learn more at bit.ly/NHC-Mosquito-Control

Seen an opossum in your neighborhood? Opossums are common residents in neighborhoods and pose little danger to people or pets, but are often misunderstood and maligned by those unfamiliar with them and the many benefits they provide.

Somewhat like nature’s vacuum cleaners, opossums can eat thousands of ticks in a week and will also feast on cockroaches, snails, slugs, snakes, mice and rats. Additionally, opossums are highly resistant to contracting rabies.
