Our office had a wonderful time attending Fox River Valley Public Library District's Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff with our interns! It was great to see so many families come together to celebrate reading, learning, and community as summer begins.

I had the honor of presenting HR876 in memory of former Illinois State Representative Rosemary M. Kurtz of Crystal Lake.

Representative Kurtz was a dedicated educator, a passionate environmental advocate, and a true public servant who spent decades serving her community and fighting for the people of McHenry County. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment to public service made a lasting impact on our region and across Illinois, and her legacy will continue to be felt for years to come.

It was especially meaningful to have her family with us in the House Chamber during the presentation. I’m grateful they could be there as we honored her life and service to our community.

I had the honor of taking part in a Memorial Day tribute alongside my very talented colleagues on the house floor, recognizing the brave men and women of our military who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is a time to reflect, remember, and honor those who gave everything for our freedoms. We are forever grateful for their bravery and sacrifice.

Whether students get to school by bus, bike, or on foot, they deserve dependable and accessible infrastructure. These improvements will help strengthen safety around our schools and make it easier for students and families to navigate our community every day.

East Dundee: $250,000 to construct a new public sidewalk along North Van Buren Street and Wilmette Avenue, connecting school campuses to the existing sidewalk network.

Algonquin: $123,000 to improve the intersection at Lake Gilligan Way and Compote Drive with new crosswalk signage, a pedestrian refuge island, ADA-accessible sidewalk ramps, and updated striping.

I was honored to present NISRA's former Executive Director Jim Wiseman with a retirement resolution (HR0830) celebrating 18 years of dedicated service and leadership. It was wonderful to be joined by Jim’s family, meet the new Executive Director Heidi Jenkins, NISRA staff, and celebrate alongside Crystal Lake Mayor Haig Haleblian and so many others involved!

Thank you, Jim, for your lasting impact on Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) and the countless lives you’ve touched throughout your career. Wishing you a very happy retirement, and we look forward to seeing all the great things ahead for NISRA in this next chapter!
