Citizens for Suzanne Ness

Citizens for Suzanne Ness A small business owner, mother, marathon runner, and advocate. IL State Rep. in D66. Quite frankly, we need some reason and calm back in government.

The 2016 election convinced me that we need honest people of integrity who lead for everyone’s benefit, not just their own. We need to put “service” back into public service, and most importantly, we need to restore our faith in our democracy and in our ability to self-govern. After running and winning the District 2 seat for the McHenry County Board, I decided to run again for State Representative. It’s time to bring a voice to Springfield that represents our families in the 66.

Suzanne Ness is proud to welcome Kate Norten as Campaign Manager for the 2026 re-election campaign.

A lifelong advocate for community engagement and service, Kate brings a collaborative leadership style and a deep commitment to building meaningful relationships throughout District 66. Her experience connecting people, organizations, and local institutions reflects the same values that have guided Suzanne's public service: listening, serving, and delivering results.

Kate earned her Master of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary in 2022 and has dedicated her career to strengthening communities through service and partnership. As the former Connections Director at Hope Evangelical Covenant Church in Crystal Lake, she worked to bring people together, foster volunteer engagement, and develop programs that made a lasting impact.

Her commitment to community extends beyond the church. Kate has played an active role in coordinating partnerships between local churches and schools throughout Crystal Lake and serves on the planning team for the annual Crystal Lake District 47 Resource Fair, helping connect families with valuable educational and community resources

Kate and her husband, Josh, call Crystal Lake home, where they have raised their two adult children. She understands the priorities that matter most to local families and is passionate about helping build a stronger future for the communities of District 66.

Whether organizing volunteers, meeting with community members, or helping share Suzanne's vision for the future, Kate is committed to ensuring every voter has the opportunity to connect with the campaign.

"Kate's passion for serving others, her ability to bring people together, and her deep roots in our community make her the perfect person to lead our campaign. I'm excited to have her on our team as we continue working to deliver results for the people of District 66."

— Suzanne Ness

The Citizens for Suzanne Ness campaign is excited to welcome Jack Thompson as Field Organizer for the 2026 re-election campaign.

Jack believes the best campaigns start with listening. Whether he's knocking on doors, meeting neighbors at community events, or recruiting volunteers, his focus is simple: building real relationships and making sure every voter feels heard.

A graduate of Lawrence University with bachelor's degrees in Government and Music Performance, Jack has worked on state and federal campaigns in Wisconsin, gaining firsthand experience in grassroots organizing and voter outreach. He's excited to bring that experience home to District 66, where he'll help grow a people-powered campaign built on conversation, trust, and community.

Originally from North Aurora, Jack is proud to call Kane County home. He understands the values that make these communities special and is committed to connecting with residents across the district as the campaign continues to grow.

When he's not on the campaign trail, Jack enjoys playing the oboe and piano, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and cheering on the Chicago Bears.

Please help us leave a warm welcome to Jack! We're so happy to have you on Team Ness!

This event is so much more to me than a campaign fundraiser. Being in a battleground district, it's truly important to raise funds every chance I get, yes. And, something special happens at this event—my Dad, Jack Ness and I, perform in a duo once again.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, my Dad and I traveled the country as the "Jack and Sue Duo". You see, my Dad is one of a kind. He was born to play music, and is one of those individuals with what feels like an innate ability to understand music composition. His talent got him into the entertainment sector in the military, when he was drafted in the Vietnam War.

I grew up listening to big band, Barbara Streisand, jazz—you name it. Both of my parents nurtured a love for music in me. I was always in band, and when I graduated high school, I used my singing talents to create a band with my Dad. At "Join The Party", we perform songs that we did way back then, and every moment is so special to me. That's really why this event matters.

Your purchase of a ticket supports my campaign, and it means that this event makes sense to do again and again. And it gets better every single time.

So don't wait! Purchase your ticket here:

I hope to see you there,

Suzanne
