🚒 Two Fires. One Team. 🌲🔥

Late yesterday (5/20), Carpinteria-Summerland Fire was requested to assist on the in Riverside County as part of a regional Type 1 Strike Team. CSFD now has two fire engines and crews assigned to active incidents through California’s statewide mutual aid system:

🚒 E161 – Bain Fire
🚒 E361 – Sandy Fire

Our crews are doing well, and all CSFD stations remain fully staffed with firefighters stepping up to ensure uninterrupted coverage here at home.

Current incident status:
🔥 Bain Fire: 1,400+ acres | 39% contained
🔥 Sandy Fire: 2,100+ acres | 30% contained

At approx. 12:15pm CSFD was dispatched for a person who fell off the cliff in the area of Bailard Avenue in Carpinteria. CSFD drone located the subject on the beach and guided ground crews to the location. The subject was assessed, and injuries were stabilized. Due to the extent of the injuries and the terrain, Santa Barbara County air resources were used to hoist the subject out and transported him to Cottage Hospital. BIg thanks to all assisting resources: Montecito Fire District, Santa Barbara City Fire, Santa Barbara County Sheriff, Santa Barbara County Fire and AMR.

CSFD has partnered with a local grazing company and the Fire Safe Council to help manage vegetation in areas that are difficult to reach with equipment, reducing the buildup of hazardous vegetation near our community. These hard-working goats - along with a few sheep - are helping make our community safer, one bite at a time.
