Carr Park School

Carr Park School The school was built in 1900 for the local regional children. In the 1930's it was remodeled and a gym was added.

Soon after the school had a winning basketball team that included 4 brothers. The school closed in 1963 and became a private residence,

Big Bertha was removed! This was the largest radiator in the house and it didn’t work. It weighed at least 500 pounds and will get us a few dollars at metal salvage!!

I guess everything happens in 3's.... yesterday we had to replace the kitchen stove. First was the water heater, 2nd the furnace motor and now the stove. I'm hoping that is the last thing to break for a while!

Old strikes again! The most recent thing to break is a motor that runs the auger for the old boiler. Without it there is no heat and fall is coming quickly. Here it is opened up so that the gears can be filed and then reinstalled. Messy!

The old school building we live in decided to cause us problems....no hot water last night! This always happens on a weekend. Grrr. But - not so quick. It isn't as easy as just calling a plumber. This is old stuff! Clean the coal room, replumb the line from the propane tank, replumb the utility room to use a tank instead of the old tankless we had. Move water lines, find any water heater that is available on a Sunday that runs on propane, etc. Hopefully we will have water by tonight! NO SHOWER FOR YOU!
