🌱Last week, TABLE staff visited our partner farm Twin Creeks. We got a firsthand look at what a year of hard work has built, picked green beans, and learned more about the farming techniques keeping this place thriving.

This farm grows fresh, organic produce that goes straight to kids across Orange County, season after season. Seeing that impact in person was a good reminder of why this work matters. 💙

"Having fresh produce and eggs are paramount to Stella's developing body. The nutrients are building her health. Food matters!"

This summer, 1,260 children are receiving bags packed with fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, harvested and delivered within the same week. Sweet peas, peaches, blueberries, corn, tomatoes and more are going from local fields to kitchen tables across Orange County.

As our fiscal year closes August 31st, your gift makes sure this continues. $30 feeds one child for a week. 🧡

🌱 Happy Birthday, Twin Creeks Farm!

Just one year ago, this plot of land was empty. Now it has 30+ rows of raised beds producing fresh organic vegetables for local kids across Orange County every single season.

It took people cleaning up illegally dumped trash, hauling rocks, trenching the entire site for fencing, tilling soil, building beds, and showing up week after week to make it what it is today. Thank you to Jim Sander, Abby Bethune, Blair Po***ck, Charlie Thoman, Ed Witkin, Julian Nunez, Justice, and every volunteer and worker who poured their time and energy into this.

And thank you to our partners and Wildflower Lane Farm for making it all possible. 🧡 Here is to year two. 🥬

📢 Event Postponed

Due to high temperatures, this month's 2nd Friday Artwalk at Caffè Driade has been postponed to the fall. We appreciate all of your support and will share more details as soon as they are available! Stay tuned. ☀️

This evening will feature the work of Daniel Wallace, author, artist, and UNC professor, with all proceeds benefiting TABLE.

Daniel is the author of six novels, including Big Fish (1998), adapted into a Tim Burton film in 2003 and a Broadway musical in 2013. His illustrations have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Garden & Gun, and many other venues. His most recent book, a memoir entitled This Isn't Going to End Well, was published by Algonquin Books in April 2023. He is the J. Ross MacDonald Distinguished Professor of English at UNC-Chapel Hill, his alma mater.

On his art, Daniel says: "It's an uncomplicated pleasure, a story you can tell yourself."

This month's Chefs@Home was made possible entirely by our amazing new partner, Goodwill Industries of Eastern NC!

They provided the recipe, ingredients, spices, custom measuring spoons, and even a STEAM activity for the kids. They labeled everything and delivered it all straight to us, and our incredible volunteers took it from there, packing and delivering every bag to local kids and families. 🧡

We are so grateful for partners who show up like this for local kids and families.
