📣 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTIFICATION UPDATE 📣

10:56 pm: The wild land portion of the fire has been contained to the origin of the fire and is not a threat to the surrounding area.

Crews are still on scene and actively engaged in fighting the structure fire.

📣 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTIFICATION 📣

At approximately 8:46 pm tonight, emergency crews responded as mutual aide to a reported structure fire in the area of 440 Colorado Avenue in Ruidoso Downs. The fire has since extended into a wildland fire, and multiple agencies and resources are actively working the incident.

Resources currently on scene include the
Ruidoso Fire Department,
Ruidoso Downs Fire Department,
Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services,
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office,
Mescalero Fire Department, and
Lincoln County EMS.

The scene remains extremely active, and the public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel safe access for fire suppression operations and traffic control. Residents in the immediate area should remain alert and be prepared for changing conditions, including smoke and possible emergency notifications.

We appreciate the rapid response and continued efforts of all responding personnel assisting on scene. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The South Fork burn scar in...
South Central Lincoln County in central New Mexico...

* Until 315 PM MDT.

* At 114 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the South Fork Burn Scar. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Eagle Creek and
Gavilan Canyon drainages. Impacts will include but are not limited to all nearby reservoirs, bridges, culverts and roadways. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the South Fork Burn Scar.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the South Fork Burn Scar.

Ruidoso and Alto.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in the South Fork Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters, climb to safety.

ℹ️Seven Cabins Fire-EVACUATIONS LIFTEDℹ️
In coordination with Southwest Area Incident Management Team 2 and based on current fire conditions, Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services is lifting ALL remaining evacuation statuses associated with the Seven Cabins Fire.

Lincoln County will continue coordinating closely with the Incident Management Team and our local response partners to support ongoing operations as needed and will adjust accordingly.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms have already develop across eastern NM. The Marginal Risk of severe storms has been expanded westward. Storms will continue through the evening with large hail and damaging winds the main concern.

For the health and safety of the public, all Cedar Creek recreation areas are currently closed due to potential flood hazards. Recent conditions have increased the risk of sudden flooding, and we are taking proactive steps to ensure visitor safety.

Please avoid the area until further notice. Updates will be shared.

DESCRIPTION
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Flash Flood Warning for:
The South Fork and Salt burn scars in South Central Lincoln County in central New Mexico until 215 PM MDT.

At 11:17 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Salt Burn Scar with a building storm over the South Fork Burn Scar as well. Up to 0.9 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact
- Upper Canyon
- Brady Canyon
- Perk Canyon
- Cedar Creek
- Eagle Creek
- Rio Ruidoso drainages

Impacts will include but are not limited to all nearby reservoirs, bridges, culverts and roadways. Impacts to areas along the Rio Ruidoso may extend downstream of Ruidoso Downs. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD
Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the South Fork Burn Scar, the Salt Burn Scar, and the Blue 2 Burn Scar..

IMPACT
Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the South Fork Scar,the Salt Burn Scar, and the Blue 2 Burn Scar.

This morning crews will continue suppression repair efforts on the north side of the fire. On the south side crews are working to hike along the edge of the fire, mopping up heat and securing the fire's edge in place. There is a chance for thunderstorms this afternoon and firefighters are ready for any new fire starts.
