FY 2025 AFG, SAFER and FP&S Application Periods Open Today!!!
Applications Close: June 22 2026
The FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) and Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) application periods are now open!

Applicants intending to apply to multiple opportunities should carefully review the specific eligibility requirements, funding priorities, and application criteria associated with each NOFO.

Recommended First Steps
Applicants are encouraged to complete the following steps as soon as possible:
1. Review the applicable FY 2025 NOFO(s).
2. Confirm your organization's SAM.gov registration is active and current.
3. Ensure FEMA GO user accounts are established and accessible.
4. Register for upcoming training and live Q&A sessions.
5. Begin assembling required application materials immediately.

The final legislative appropriation for the State Recreational Trails (SRT) program for State Fiscal Year 2027 (SFY 2027) has been determined by the Iowa Legislature. Pending the Governor’s signature that appropriates $2.5 million this year.
In anticipation of an appropriation for the program, the Iowa DOT will accept project applications for SFY 2027 according to the existing July 1, 2026, application deadline.
