The election may be over, but our work isn't finished yet!
Today, our bipartisan election team conducted the post-election test of our voting equipment. Using the same test deck from before the election, we ran ballots through every tabulator to ensure each machine counted votes exactly the same way it did during pre-election testing. I'm happy to report that every tabulator matched the original results perfectly, with no discrepancies found.
Our office also compared the number of voters who signed in on the poll pads at each precinct with the number of ballots cast to verify that those totals matched.
Tomorrow, our verification process continues. Our bipartisan verification team will compare each precinct's election night results report with the end-of-night tape printed by every tabulator after our outstanding poll workers closed the polls. They will also review and determine the validity of any provisional ballots.
As required by Missouri law, we will also conduct a public hand count of selected candidates and issues from one randomly chosen polling place. After the hand count is complete, those same ballots will be run through the tabulator again to confirm the machine produces the same results. This process begins at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, August 6th) and is open to the public.
Once every step has been completed and all results have been verified, we will certify the election, and the final official results will be issued.
Accurate elections don't end when the polls close. They end when every required safeguard has been completed. Thank you for allowing us to serve Carroll County with transparency, accuracy, and integrity.
