Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department Responds to Multi-Unit Apartment Fire at Eagle Harbor Apartments
CARROLLTON, VA – At approximately 7:20 a.m. this morning, the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Eagle Harbor Apartments.
Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke showing from the building and discovered fire on a first-floor balcony. Despite aggressive firefighting efforts, the fire quickly extended into the attic space and spread throughout the length of the apartment building.
A large-scale response was initiated, bringing together firefighters and emergency personnel from Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue, Suffolk Fire & Rescue, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, and Newport News Fire Department. Virginia State Police and the Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to assist with the incident and subsequent investigation.
Firefighters worked diligently to contain the rapidly advancing fire and protect surrounding structures. The fire was declared under control at approximately 0845am.
In total, 12 apartment units were impacted by the fire, affecting more than 30 residents. Fortunately, no civilian fatalities have been reported at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police.
