✨ MEET OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: GINNY BOUCHARD, MPA ✨

Behind the work we do at Carroll County Mental Health Advocates and The Recovery Spot of West Georgia is a leader who understands that some of life’s hardest battles are the ones we cannot see.

Ginny’s path to this work is rooted in personal experience, public service, and a deep belief that every person deserves the opportunity to heal.

As a military widow, mother, educator, and community advocate, Ginny has experienced firsthand the grief, anxiety, and challenges that can come with major life changes. Those experiences have strengthened her commitment to making mental health and substance-use care more accessible, equitable, timely, and compassionate.

With a background in government affairs, public administration, law enforcement, legislative policy, and higher education, Ginny works to bring people, organizations, and community partners together to create meaningful solutions and advocate for individuals and families navigating systems that can often feel overwhelming.

As our Executive Director, Ginny’s mission is simple:

To help build a community where asking for help is met with compassion—and where receiving that help does not depend on who you are, what you have, or how well you understand the system.

We are grateful to have Ginny leading the way and helping us build a stronger, more connected community where no one has to face their hardest moments alone. 💚

✨ WHAT IS PEER SUPPORT? — GOAL SETTING & RECOVERY PLANNING ✨

Recovery doesn’t happen all at once. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as figuring out what you want your life to look like and what the next step is. 💜

Peer Support can help you:

🎯 Identify personal goals
📝 Create realistic action plans
🪜 Break big goals into manageable steps
💪 Recognize your strengths and work through barriers
🌱 Build healthy routines
🗣️ Build confidence and self-advocacy
📈 Track your progress and celebrate your successes
🤝 Navigate resources while having someone walk alongside you

Your goals are YOUR goals. Peer support isn’t about telling you where you should be—it’s about helping you identify where you want to go and supporting you along the way.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. You just have to be willing to take the next step. 🌱

Let’s get connected. 💜

💜 SERVICES HIGHLIGHT: LIFE SKILLS 💜

Sometimes recovery means learning how to do life again.

Addiction and mental health challenges can affect so many areas of our lives — sometimes even the everyday things that once felt simple. And there’s absolutely no shame in needing a little help getting those skills back.

That’s one part of what Peer Support can offer. We can walk alongside you as you work on things like:

💰 Creating a budget and learning how to manage money in recovery
🛒 Understanding the difference between a “need” and a “want”
📄 Building or updating a résumé
💼 Practicing interview skills
🗓️ Developing routines and staying organized
🎯 Setting realistic goals and taking steps toward them
🏠 Building the everyday skills that support stability and independence

Peer support isn’t about doing things for you. It’s about walking alongside you, helping you identify your strengths, build confidence, and get back to the things that may have been lost along the way.

Sometimes you don’t need someone to fix your life.

Sometimes you just need someone to say, “Let’s figure this out together.” 💜

And this is just ONE part of what peer support can look like.

✨ Follow along over the next several days as we highlight more of the services and support available through The Recovery Spot of West Georgia.

Recovery is more than getting sober. Recovery is learning how to LIVE again. 💜

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! 👀💜 HELP US REACH 100!

Whether you’re in recovery, seeking recovery, or supporting someone you love on their recovery journey, your voice matters.

We’re asking our community to take a few minutes to complete our survey and help us better understand what our community needs, what’s missing, and how we can continue building services and support that truly make a difference. 🫶

🎯 Our goal: 100 completed surveys!
🎁 Once we reach 100 responses, we’ll draw a name from those who entered for a prize drawing!

Your feedback can help shape the future of mental health and recovery services right here in our community.

🌊💚 It’s okay to take a break.

Today is National Relaxation Day, and we’re taking this as a reminder that rest is not something we have to earn. Sometimes, taking care of ourselves means slowing down, stepping away, taking a deep breath, and simply allowing ourselves a moment to breathe.

Whether you spend the day by the water, listening to music, taking a walk, spending time with people you love, or simply sitting quietly for a few minutes—give yourself permission to pause.

Recovery and mental wellness aren’t just about pushing forward. They’re also about recognizing when we need to rest. 💚

So today, remember: you don’t always have to keep going. It’s okay to take a break.

Happy National Relaxation Day from Carroll County Mental Health Advocates & The Recovery Spot of West Georgia! 💚🌿
