Carrollton Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association

Carrollton Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association The Citizens Patrol are the extra eyes and ears of the Carrollton Police Department.

They have uniforms, patrol in city-owned marked cars and carry Police issued radios. Patrol members are constantly on the lookout for potential problems and criminal activity, which are reported directly to Dispatch.

Early yesterday our daughter called me and asked what was up with Marsh Lane, it was shut down. Turned out a car hit a power pole and it took all day and into the evening for the electric company to get it fixed and get the road completely open. Our volunteers were there the whole time in shifts. Big Thank You to Kathren and Mike for taking first 6 hrs of down power lines road closure. Kirk did the last leg of shut down and Russell was there as well mid day. We replaced 2 officers for 12 hrs, well done. Russell, as always, thank you for the pictures.

More volunteers busy in Carrollton! Here is one answering phones, a few at the ribbon cutting for the new Woodlake pavilion and kayak launch site. Some of our Citizens on Patrol have even been trained on Handicapped Enforcement. We love keeping busy and helping our officers!!

A typical Monday morning for me is answering phones at the PD, I love my Monday mornings. “Carrollton Police Department, how may I direct your call?” I also clean the Parks coffee machine, make sure the coffee pods are full and make sure the officers on patrol have their cold water ready when they come in. Russell finished icing down the water for me. It is awesome to give back to my community, and especially our officers.

Another thing our volunteers do, get water for our officers out in this heat!! When they come in to write reports or get their lunch or anything, they can always count on a cold bottle of water in the cooler waiting for them. They also patrol our trails, so if you see them out in our ATV on the trails, stop them and thank them. Thank you for the pictures Russell!!
