It's official! We begin a new era as the College of Education & Human Development today!

Our new College name change coincides with the addition of a new department, Human Development and Family Science (HDFS), and aims to capture the depth and breadth of academics, programs, and research occurring in the college.

“While we have a long history with education and curriculum, we are a very broad college that includes expertise in psychology, policy, technology, leadership, and so much more," said Interim Dean Erica Lembke.

“What I like most about the new name and the new department is that it expands our expertise about the youngest children, draws in the family dynamic and relationships, and even brings in older adults.”

“These are all related, and learning is a lifelong endeavor. I’m very excited about the possibilities of collaboration and scholarship, and the real benefit will be for our students.”

37% of Missourians did not have wired broadband in their homes from 2015-2019.

Should we be concerned that one out of three Missouri households are not connected to high-speed internet? What does “wired broadband” mean? As governments roll out new broadband initiatives, these are timely questions the MU Extension Guide “Broadband Technologies: A Primer on Access and Solutions” can help answer. Read it today at https://extension.missouri.edu/publications/dm601.

Manufacturing is a key segment of Missouri's economy. Not only does it represent $40 billion of the state's gross product but the average manufacturing wage exceeds the average private sector wage. So, it's important to support growth in this sector.

A new initiative funded by U.S. Economic Development Administration & Missouri Department of Economic Development will allow for collaboration between UM System researchers and Missouri manufacturers.

Over the next 18 months, roundtables around the state will bring manufacturers and researchers together to discuss improving technology, increasing sales, reducing costs, expanding markets, creating and retaining jobs and introducing new products. Read more. http://ow.ly/T46M50Fk6On
