BATTERIES DROP OFF LOCATIONS

SAFETY PRO TIP: Before disposing of batteries, tape the terminals whenever possible. If tape is not available, place each battery in its own small plastic bag to prevent the terminals from touching other batteries and potentially causing a fire. Avoid storing loose batteries together in a jar or can, as this is unsafe. Your family’s safety comes first.

Some great tips for Back to School ♻

Back-to-school lunches don’t have to create extra waste! Here are a few easy ways to pack more sustainably this school year:
✅ Use reusable lunch containers and snack bags instead of single-use plastic bags.
✅ Pack drinks in reusable bottles or containers.
✅ Skip individually wrapped snacks — buy in bulk and portion them out at home.
✅ If you do use recyclable containers (like yogurt cups or juice boxes), make sure they’re empty and clean before tossing them in the recycling bin.

Someone placed non-recyclable items in one of our containers, including a gas-filled lawn mower, chainsaws, batteries, large metal rails and much more. This photo shows what could have happened. Please help keep our drivers safe.

Important reminder: Please place recycling only in our containers. Do not put trash, equipment, batteries, metal rails, or any other non-recyclable items inside.

Dear Deersville,

This situation is unacceptable. The heavy metal object could have caused serious damage to our truck and injured the driver if it had come through the window during dumping. Fortunately, our employee noticed the mower handle sticking out before the situation escalated.

These bins are for recycling only; it is not a local garbage dumpster. Items like this should not be dumped here. I'm sure you knew that before you did it!

Improper dumping puts the site at risk and could cause it to be taken away from people who use it responsibly.

•Please dispose of non-recyclable items through the proper channels.
•Please help keep this recycling site safe, clean, and available for the community.
