Twenty-five years ago, our nation stopped in its tracks. On September 11, 2001, we lost thousands of lives when synchronized terrorists attacks hit New York City, the Washington, DC Area, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Today, we remember the heroes who put their lives on the line to protect others, the fallen who were working in the buildings destroyed in the attacks, the first responders who ran toward danger, the firefighters who climbed while others descended, the paramedics, police officers, and everyday laborers who gave everything so that others might live. They did not ask who they were saving. They simply answered the call.

As we mark this solemn anniversary during Labor Action Week, we honor their memory.

This week, we:
Remember the fallen. We pay tribute to the workers and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on that September morning.
Honor those who continue to mourn the loved ones they lost on that tragic day.
Vow to protect those who protect us. We stand with the survivors and responders still fighting for the healthcare and dignity they were promised.
Work to advance workers' rights. We continue the fight for fair wages, safe conditions, and justice for every worker in this nation.
The best way to honor a legacy of sacrifice is to build a future worthy of it. That work belongs to all of us.
In Remembrance,

NAACP
