Carroll County Schools has made several changes to upcoming activities due to the extreme heat. They include:

All outdoor athletic practices on Thursday, Sept. 3 are cancelled.

The CCMS football game on Thursday, Sept. 3 is cancelled.

The CCHS varsity soccer team will play at 8 p.m. in Frankfort on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The CCHS Homecoming parade will run as scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 3. The parade starts at 6 p.m. at Point Park and will end at CCHS. Everyone is encouraged to line the parade route and support our students.

The CCHS football game on Friday, Sept. 4 will now start at 8 p.m.

The CCHS Homecoming ceremony on Friday, Sept. 4 will now begin at 7:15 p.m. at Panther Field.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we have to make changes in the interest of safety for our students and staff.

Members of the Young Leaders Institute at Carroll County High School met with community partners yesterday to begin enacting the Leadership in Action plan. This year, the Leadership in Action capstone is being redesigned to take leadership lessons beyond the classroom and put students directly into the community where they can make an impact.

Who is a Carroll County educator who goes above and beyond?

We have so many educators who give their time, talent and heart to help our students thrive. Now, our community has an opportunity to make sure their efforts are recognized beyond our schools.

The Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative is celebrating its 50th anniversary by celebrating our teachers. Three Carroll County educators will be selected as finalists for the Honoring Excellence Ceremony: 50 Educators. 50 Years. One Mission, with one educator receiving the award for our district.

We invite parents, families, students, colleagues and community members to nominate a Carroll County educator who invests in their students, continues to grow professionally and consistently goes above and beyond.

If someone comes to mind, take a few minutes to tell their story. Your nomination could help shine a light on an educator who deserves to be recognized.

Congratulations to CCHS seniors Hannah Weedman and Matthew Biggin for placing in the Swiss Wine Ambassador contest. Hannah took first place while Matthew was a runner-up. They participated in interviews with a panel of judges, answered a question on the main stage, and showed their school spirit in the festival parade. The CCHS Band of Gold also marched in the parade. Carroll County High School is adjusting its plans for the Homecoming pep rally and Powder Puff game in anticipation of the elevated heat index. Student and staff safety are at the core of this decision.

The new schedule is:

8:30-10 a.m. — Pep Rally & Powder Puff
Students and staff will report to the field for the pep rally and Powder Puff games.

10 a.m. — Return to Classes
Students who are eligible to participate in creating signage for Friday night's game may stay at the field to work on signs and spirit materials until 12:33 p.m.

Please note, if the temperatures get too high, students and staff will return to the building earlier than scheduled.

All students will eat lunch during their normal lunch times. The afternoon Area Technology Center students will report as normal.

Parents are welcome to attend the outdoor events, but must sign in at the high school office first. A photo ID is required.

North American Stainless donated thousands of dollars of equipment to the welding class at the Carroll County Area Technology Center. We are so grateful for community partners who support our students and their training. Welding instructor Justin Tingle contacted NAS in search of smaller size gloves and welding jackets. He was rewarded with welding gloves for various types of welding, rubber gloves for painting, general work gloves, welding jackets, cooling bandanas for when they are welding on hot days, and hydrating drink mixes.
