A huge thank you to the Sagebrush Ecosystem staff and everyone who participated in this week’s Sagebrush Ecosystem Council meeting and field tour. It was two days of meaningful discussion, collaboration, and on‑the‑ground learning, from reviewing Conservation Credit System standards to exploring real‑world projects like the Zunino Ranch Credit Project, the Smith Bros site, and the USFS/NFF Public Lands Project.

We are grateful for our staff, agency partners, landowners, and community members who shared their time, expertise, and perspectives. Seeing these projects firsthand really highlighted the dedication behind Nevada’s sagebrush conservation work and the partnerships that make it possible.

As Historic Preservation Month comes to a close, we want to extend a heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who participated in Your Nevada, Your History. Your entries were thoughtful, personal, and full of love for the places that make Nevada home.

From small towns to wide‑open landscapes to the corners of our cities that hold generations of memories, we were truly inspired by the stories you shared. Hearing about the places that matter to you reminds us why preservation work is so important. These spaces shape our communities, our identities, and our shared history.

Thank you for celebrating with us, for lifting up the places you care about, and for helping us honor Nevada’s past as we look toward its future. We loved every moment of this month and every story you entrusted to us.

Huge thanks to Sarah and Andy for representing the Division of Water Resources and inspiring the next generation of hydrologists, engineers, and environmental stewards. They brought the excitement to this year’s NWEA Water Palooza with a hands-on flood demonstration that had students (and adults!) completely captivated. The flood model showed how water moves through a watershed, how flooding happens, and why smart planning and resilient infrastructure matter for Nevada communities.

The district covers 25.3 acres in the heart of Winnemucca’s historic commercial core and includes 60 buildings that reflect nearly a century of the community’s growth, architecture, and civic life.
