May is Wildfire Awareness Month, a crucial reminder that protecting our communities takes a collective effort. 🔥

Mayor Bagwell’s Wildfire Preparedness Proclamation, presented last week, outlines key actions residents can take – like establishing defensible space, hardening homes, and preparing for evacuations, among others.

While we look at our own properties to reduce wildland fuel risks, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible individuals on the front lines.

A massive THANK YOU to our dedicated wildland firefighting crews. Your tireless commitment to protecting our lives, homes, and natural resources does not go unnoticed. You are the backbone of our community resilience, and we are profoundly grateful for your service. 🧑‍🚒🌲

Let’s do our part to make their jobs easier. Commit to:
🏡Creating defensible space around your home.
🌲Clearing dry brush, leaves, and hazardous fuels.
🔥Staying informed on local fire restrictions and evacuation plans.

Together, we can create a safer, more fire-resilient community.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
This Memorial Day, the members of the Carson City Fire Department stand alongside our community in remembering those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we hold dear. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
As we gather with family and friends, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and honor the fallen heroes who gave everything for our nation.
From all of us at the Carson City Fire Department — thank you to our fallen service members and to the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸🚒

As we close out EMS Week, we want to extend our sincere gratitude to the incredible firefighter/paramedics and EMTs who serve our community every day.
Our EMS team wears many hats — answering medical calls, responding to fires, supporting rescues, and standing ready whenever help is needed. Their compassion, skill, strength, and dedication make a difference in some of life’s most critical moments.
One team. Two roles. One mission. ❤️
Thank you for your commitment to serving others, for the sacrifices you make, and for being the heartbeat of our community.
From all of us at the Carson City Fire Department — thank you for all you do. 🚑🚒

A big thank you to our community partners who contributed to our appreciation events this week: REMSA Health (Careflight), Butler Meats, United Federal Credit Union, Dairy Queen, Yogurt Beach, Scoups, LA Bakery, Big Chicken, Rivas, and El Centro Market. We are grateful for your donations and support!

🔥🌲Our CCFD Wildland crew hit the trail with Carson Middle School students on C-Hill yesterday for the annual CMS Hike with a Hero event. We connected, shared stories from the field, and showed what it takes to keep our community fire-adapted and resilient. These moments are meaningful. Students saw teamwork, leadership, and community service firsthand. Thank you to CMS for the invitation!
