V&T Railway*, located in Carson City, Nev., is a state funded, historical railroad that invites guests of any age to enjoy a journey into rich Nevada history while traveling through Nevada’s “wild west” Virginia Mountain Range. With reconstruction efforts beginning in the early 1990’s, the state set up a commission to rebuild the line, operating today as the Nevada Commission for the Reconstructio

n of the V&T Railway. Since inception, the Commission has restored 16-miles of track from Gold Hill into the Carson River Canyon, giving the railway the opportunity for more diverse trains. The rail continues to operate its regular season from May through mid-October, with fully narrated roundtrip train rides from Carson City to Virginia City offering scenic routes and historic sites. The train also features various special events including Toast of the Canyon wine trains and the wildly popular Polar Express. June brings some of the most unique rides of the season aboard the V&T Railway. 🚂

Start the month aboard our Diesel Train excursions on June 6–7, traveling through Nevada’s canyon region in restored Pullman passenger cars while learning about the history of the route through onboard narration.

Throughout the month, steam-powered excursions continue between Carson City and Virginia City, offering one of the most iconic rail experiences in the West.

And on June 20–21, celebrate Father’s Day with a special round-trip journey featuring Bloody Marys, savory morning snacks, and quality time together aboard the rails.

Built in 1905, No. 25 marked a transition period for the V&T Railway, adapting from passenger service to mixed train operations as travel evolved.

After decades of use and eventual restoration, it continues to represent the resilience and adaptability of the railway.

It stands today as a reminder of how the V&T Railway has continued to evolve while preserving its legacy. 🚂
