🚨 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Ward Fire 🚨

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest roads and trails on the Ely Ranger District in the Ward Mtn Area impacted by the Ward Fire are now CLOSED to public access while crews continue to fight the Ward Fire, burning approximately nine miles south of Ely.

This closure is in effect to protect the safety of the public and our firefighters working around the clock on the fire lines. Please stay out of the closure area, including all forest roads and trails in the Described Area, to allow crews to operate safely and effectively.

📍 As of today, the Ward Fire has burned approximately 8,164 acres and is 0% contained. Nearly 300 personnel are assigned to the incident.

🚫 Please respect all Road Closed signs located in the Ward Mtn area.

Community Meeting Announcement – Ward Fire

A community meeting will be held tomorrow, Monday, August 3rd from 600-730pm, to provide the public with important updates on the Ward Fire.

Fire managers and representatives from the Ward Fire Incident Management Team, Ely and White Pine County Fire Agencies, Nevada Division of Forestry, Wildland Fire Service, Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), White Pine County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Forest Service will be in attendance.

The meeting will provide an overview of the current fire situation and offer community members an opportunity to ask questions. Discussion topics will include:
• Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) treatment objectives and project history
• Ready, Set, Go! wildfire preparedness actions
• An overall synopsis of the Ward Fire, including current operations and response efforts.

Community members are encouraged to attend to receive the latest information and learn more about ongoing fire management efforts.

The Secret Pass Fire, burning next to State Route 229 as it heads toward Ruby Valley, has reached 4,000 acres since it started on July 25.
