Carson City Library - at Two Digital Learning Center

Carson City Library - at Two Digital Learning Center Mission is to facilitate Technology, Information, and Library Proficiency. Private donations were required to match the ARRA broadband funding.

Nevada libraries have received American Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) broadband funding for public computing centers throughout Nevada’s community public libraries. The Nevada “One Click Away” project provides Nevadans with enhanced access to online information and resources (in both English and Spanish) critical to their individual success and Nevada’s economic recovery. A partner

ship with the State Library and Archives, Cooperative Libraries Automated Network (CLAN) and the Carson City Library has added technology equipment and programming to bolster technology and digital literacy skills. The partnership is helping to grow public computing centers with access to high speed Internet across Nevada and bolstering high tech meeting room spaces available through the public library. In addition, the library is seeing an increase of laptop stations, audio/visual teleconferencing equipment, digital media production capabilities and IT training/coaching/programming. For Carson City’s portion, the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation provided a 27.2% cash match commitment of $162,658, adding to the $434,341 award. In total, the grant came to $596,999, with all expenditures to be exhausted by June 2013.
