It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you, the citizens of Skamania County, as Sheriff for the past three years. Although we have accomplished so many things during this time, as I enter this fourth year of my term, I know there is more work to be done. With that, I am excited to announce my bid for a second term as Skamania County Sheriff.
During my short time in office, I have worked tirelessly to accomplish the following:
- $1.2 million dollar grant project for improving the public safety radio system
- Increase in Clark County Jail Services contract, significantly increasing revenue streams while efficiently utilizing vacant jail space
- Acquisition of over $40,000 in law enforcement wellness grants through the Criminal Justice Training Commission, allowing for peer support training, a wellness room, and other wellness items for law enforcement and corrections officers
- Funding for additional 40-hour Crisis Intervention Training, superseding Trueblood requirements
- Over $100,000 in grant funding through Homeland Security to purchase and build a mobile command unit
- Increase of city law enforcement contracts by a total of over $150,000
- Increase in Pacificorp law enforcement contract of over $35,000
- Body-worn camera grant for corrections of over $29,000
- Sno-Park enforcement grant of $21,000
- LETCSA Patrol Tactics requirements met in 2024 for all Skamania County peace officers; three years earlier than the state requirement
I am honored to serve on the following boards/committees, representing Skamania County:
- Co-chair of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Public Trust Committee
- Member at Large for the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Executive Board
- Chair of the Region 4 State Homeland Security Program Coordinating Council
- Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Certifications hearing panel member
I have continued to further my education during this term as well:
- Graduate of the Claremont Institute Sheriff’s Fellowship
- Graduate of the National Sheriff’s Institute Leadership Development Course
- Arizona State University Masters Program for Public Safety Leadership and Administration – Executive Police Administration (Slated for 12/2026 graduation)
Lastly, I’ve accomplished the return of 24-hour patrol coverage for Skamania County, eliminating a gap in patrol services and reducing overtime from call-outs that covered this vacancy.
I see these past years as just the beginning and am asking you to help me continue my efforts as your Sheriff. Thank you for these past three years and I am so excited to see what we can continue to accomplish in 2027!
