The Allatoona Lake project consists of 12,000 surface acres of water and 270 miles of shoreline. Further, there are approximately 13,000 acres of landing
surrounding the lake. There are miles of hiking trails that managed by the USACE, county and local organizations. Army Corps of Engineers manages 8 campgrounds, with approximately 581 campsites. There are 9 Day Use Parks for picnicking which have tables, beaches and grills; 5 of these have boat ramp facilities for launching boats. Further, Allatoona Lake has 6 day use parks that are solely devoted to boat launching ramps. There are also state, county and city run facilities, including camping and day use, along the shoreline of Allatoona Lake which provide for additional recreation opportunities.
