🌎 Intercultural Fest

Intercultural Fest returns to Downtown Cartersville for its 10th year! Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a day of culture, food, music, folk dancing, and more. Please be mindful of increased pedestrian traffic and activity downtown throughout the event.

🇺🇸 Labor Day Office Closure
📅 September 7
City of Cartersville offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day. All trash and recycling pickup will take place on September 8.

🇺🇸 Join us as Cartersville Runs to Remember.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, our community will come together to remember the lives lost, honor the first responders who answered the call, and recognize the courage and sacrifice of that day.

The Cartersville Fire Department and Cartersville Police Department invite you to join them for the 6th Annual 9/11 Run to Remember 5K in Downtown Cartersville.

📍 Friendship Plaza, Downtown Cartersville

The course takes runners and walkers through the city, including a special portion that passes directly through Cartersville Fire Station 1. Proceeds from the race benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Downtown Cartersville will be busy tomorrow, August 29th, with the Farmers Market and the 10th Annual Downtown Cartersville 5K! If you’re heading downtown Saturday morning, please be mindful of increased pedestrian traffic, runners, and temporary traffic impacts.

Stop by the Farmers Market Saturday morning to shop fresh produce, locally made goods, and more from local farmers and vendors.

🏃 Downtown Cartersville 5K
📍 Downtown Cartersville
⏰ Saturday, August 29th, 5K begins at 8:00 AM | 1K Fun Run begins at 9:00 AM
The race benefits the Backpack Buddies Program and will take runners through Downtown Cartersville and surrounding neighborhoods before finishing in Friendship Plaza.

Drivers should expect temporary road closures and delays along the race route Saturday morning and use extra caution around runners, volunteers, and pedestrians.

🚗 Race parking is available at several locations throughout downtown, including the Downtown Parking Deck. Please note that the Tabernacle Church Parking Lot will be reserved for the Farmers Market and is not available for race parking.

This month, we're highlighting Drake Collum, a Data Processing/Meter Technician with the City of Cartersville Customer Service Department.

In his role, Drake helps ensure the City's metering systems and customer data remain accurate and reliable.

His daily responsibilities include processing and verifying meter data, troubleshooting meter-related issues, maintaining accurate records, and supporting field crews with the information they need to provide dependable service.

When asked what he enjoys most about working for the City, Drake shared:
"I enjoy being part of a team that helps keep things running behind the scenes. Knowing that my work contributes to accurate billing, efficient operations, and great service for our customers makes every day rewarding."

Recreation Center to Feature Solar Energy Thanks to Qcells North America Partnership!

The City of Cartersville's new Recreation Center will soon be powered in part by the sun, thanks to a generous partnership with Qcells.

As part of the project, Qcells has donated a complete rooftop solar panel system, including installation, for the new facility. Once operational, the system will help offset a portion of the Recreation Center's energy consumption, reducing long-term operating costs while supporting the City's commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.

The Recreation Center is designed to serve thousands of residents each year through youth sports, fitness programs, community events, and recreational activities. By incorporating renewable energy into the facility, the City is investing not only in a modern recreation destination, but also in a more efficient and sustainable future.

"We're incredibly grateful to Qcells for their generous donation and partnership," said City Manager Dan Porta. "This contribution is an investment in our community that will provide lasting benefits for years to come by helping reduce energy costs and allowing more resources to be directed toward serving our residents."

Qcells, a global leader in clean energy solutions with a strong presence in Northwest Georgia, continues to demonstrate its commitment to the communities it serves through meaningful partnerships and investments.

The City of Cartersville extends its sincere appreciation to Qcells for helping make this project possible. Their support will have a lasting impact, creating savings that will benefit the Recreation Center and the community for decades.

🌳 Take A Walk in the Park with us next week!

In celebration of National Parks Week, Cartersville Parks & Rec Department is spending the week highlighting some of the great parks and trails right here in our community.

Each morning from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the Parks & Recreation team will be at that day's designated park, giving you a great reason to get outside, take a walk, and explore!

🚶 Monday: Cartersville Sports Complex
🚶 Tuesday: Dellinger Park
🚶 Wednesday: Pine Mountain Main Street Trailhead
🚶 Thursday: Pettit Creek Trail
🚶 Friday: Sam Smith Park
