A huge thank you to the team from the Cobb County location of The Home Depot for spending the day serving at our Cobb Family Resource Center.

Their team generously donated cleaning supplies and rolled up their sleeves to sort, organize, and refresh our clothing closets. Because of their hard work, families who come to us in times of need will have a more welcoming and organized space to access essential resources.

Partnerships like this remind us that caring for children and families is truly a community effort. We are grateful for The Home Depot team's willingness to invest their time, energy, and resources to help us protect children, empower youth, and uplift families across our community.

Thank you for making a difference, one act of service at a time. πŸ’™

Strong communities are built by people who choose to invest in the well-being of others, not just once, but year after year.

For many years, Sean and LeAnne Ely and Ely Corporation have been dedicated partners of Advocates for Children, helping strengthen our mission to protect children, empower youth, and uplift families. Their commitment extends far beyond financial support. Both Sean and LeAnne have generously shared their leadership through service on our Board of Trustees, and Sean is currently serving his second term on the board.

Most recently, the Ely family stepped forward as the lead donor helping launch our new Therapeutic Services initiative, an investment that will expand access to critical mental health support for children, youth, and families throughout our community. Their vision and generosity are helping make this next chapter of our mission possible.

In addition to their leadership and philanthropy, Ely Corporation served as the presenting sponsor of our Fall Benefit last year, helping create an event that raised vital support for the programs and services our community relies on every day.

Partnerships like this are about more than sponsorships or board service. They are about a shared belief that every child deserves to be safe, every young person deserves opportunity, and every family deserves support.

Thank you, Sean and LeAnne Ely and Ely Corporation, for your years of leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the children, youth, and families we serve.

For many people, we'll always be known as Flowering Branch Children's Shelter.
And we're proud of that legacy.

For generations, our community has trusted us to care for children when they needed safety, stability, and hope.

But over the years, that mission has grown.

Today, Advocates for Children serves children, youth, and families through 11 programs across Northwest Georgia. From advocating for children in foster care and supporting families with young children to helping youth experiencing homelessness find stability and independence, our work reaches far beyond what many people realize.

This month, we're inviting you to discover the full story.
Throughout June, we'll be introducing the programs that make up our three pillars of service:

πŸ› Advocacy & Justice
🏠 Housing & Stability
❀️ Child & Family Wellbeing

You may be surprised by all the ways your community is working together to protect children, empower youth, and uplift families.

Let's start with a question:

Sometimes the people who spend their days caring for others need a little care themselves.

Recently, mothers from our In-Home Parenting and Youth Independent Housing programs gathered for a special day of connection, encouragement, and self-care. Between fresh haircuts, makeup consultations, painted nails, and plenty of conversation, these moms were given the chance to step away from daily responsibilities and focus on themselves for a change.

For many of the families we serve, building stability requires tremendous strength and perseverance. This event was a reminder that parents deserve support too. When caregivers feel seen, valued, and encouraged, entire families benefit.

A heartfelt thank you to Kimmie Krause for generously providing haircuts and to Danielle Rieger with Mary Kay for helping our moms feel confident and celebrated. Your kindness created more than a fun afternoon. You helped these women feel refreshed, empowered, and cared for.

Moments like these remind us that community is built not only through meeting needs, but through showing people they matter. πŸ’™

Some partnerships do more than improve a space. They help create a place where young people can heal, grow, and build a brighter future.

We are incredibly grateful to the team at Home Depot in Acworth for donating supplies and volunteering their time to help beautify Newman House. Their generosity is helping us create a welcoming environment where youth experiencing homelessness and housing instability can find safety, stability, and hope.

Every garden bed cleared, every bag of mulch spread, and every hour invested sends a powerful message to the young people who walk through our doors: your community cares about you.

Thank you, Home Depot Acworth, for rolling up your sleeves and standing alongside us as we work to protect children, empower youth, and uplift families across Northwest Georgia.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made our freedoms possible, and their courage will never be forgotten.

At Advocates for Children, we remember the families carrying the weight of that sacrifice today, and we extend our gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve.

As we spend time with loved ones this weekend, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day β€” remembrance, gratitude, and honor. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

What a beautiful gift from the Etowah Quilters Guild.

Their donation of handmade quilts, towels, washcloths, toilet paper, and other essential supplies will help make Newman House feel more like home for the young people we serve. Every quilt, every towel, and every practical item is a reminder that this community sees our youth, cares for them, and believes they deserve comfort, dignity, and stability.

Thank you, Etowah Quilters Guild, for wrapping our youth in warmth, care, and hope.
