❄️Carterville Road Update &Safety Reminder❄️

We’ve received a significant amount of snow, and while road conditions are improving compared to yesterday, drivers should still use extreme caution.

🚗 Please slow down and take your time when traveling.
🛑 Try to avoid side roads, as not all of them have been cleared yet.

If you become stuck or need assistance, please contact:
📞 Carterville Police Department
📞 Williamson County Non-Emergency Dispatch

Our first responders, EMS, and city employees have been working around the clock to improve road conditions and keep everyone safe. We truly appreciate your patience as we continue these efforts.

Please bear with us, check on one another, and remember — your safety comes first.

Stay warm and stay safe, Carterville 💙

🚨 WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY 🚨

Please stay home unless travel is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! Snow accumulation is significant, and roadways are becoming extremely difficult to navigate. Many lanes are nearly impossible to see, and conditions can change rapidly.

If you must be out:
• Slow down
• Increase following distance
• Use headlights
• Give plows and emergency vehicles plenty of room

Your safety — and the safety of first responders — is the priority. If you don’t have to be out, please stay home and wait for conditions to improve.

❄️ Stay safe and check on one another.

PLEASE REVIEW!!!

With a snow event and low temperatures predicted to impact Carterville this weekend, here are a few travel/safety reminders.

- Roads are expected to become hazardous and possibly impassable. Please do not travel on Saturday and Sunday unless it is emergent or absolutely necessary.

- The Public Works Department staff have been preparing for the snow storm and will be working to keep the snow routes passable.

- Public Works will focus on designated snow routes first and foremost. As the snow routes are cleared, staff will work their way onto secondary streets, then subdivisions.

- Try to avoid on-street parking during this snow event, especially on designated snow routes.

- Remember that emergency services will experience delayed response times due to road conditions and call volumes. Please be safe and avoid unnecessary travel.

- Lastly, please use extreme caution if you must go outdoors during the next three days. If so, dress in layers and limit exposed skin. Temperatures and wind chills are predicted to range from single digits to below zero.
