Carthage Volunteer Fire Department We are a Fire Department family committed to providing our community with rapid and professional response to all fire and medical emergencies.

We recognize the value of ongoing education & training as well as fire prevention for our community. Carthage Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1953 with thirty-three members. The fire department joined the Indiana Volunteer Firemen's Association on July 12th, 1954. On November 9th, 1961, the fire department was incorporated and became known as Carthage Volunteer Fire Department of Rush Cou

nty, Inc. They had eight board of directors, three incorporators, two vehicles, and fifty dollars. The fire department and EMS Association met in September 1997 to discuss and vote on a possible merger. The vote was unanimous and the merge took place on January 1st, 1998. As of today there are six fire trucks, two ambulances, and twenty-eight members.

Today at Approximately 11:55am CVFD was dispatched out to a female with a possible stroke. Once CVFD and Raleigh EMS assessed the patient it was confirmed to be a stroke. Lifeline was immediately dispatched and once they arrived Lifeline took the patient for further care.

Please be aware of the potential risks. Down power lines will more than likely be present. Flooding will more than likely be present. Do not go near flooded areas as they are deeper than they appear.

⚠️A potentially impactful day for severe weather is on the table tomorrow across Indiana. Right now all hazards appear possible including the potential for very large hail and a few tornadoes. A few strong tornadoes ( EF-2+) are possible.

While confidence is growing in a potential impactful day across our region, there are still a few uncertainties ahead of tomorrow. Like last Thursday, there is a chance of morning showers which may impact the location and severity of round 2. We will continue to watch trends and adjust forecasts as needed. Forecast revisions are expected as data and locations are fined tuned through tomorrow.

-TIMING-
After 1:00pm EDT into tomorrow night

-HAZARDS-
● Damaging winds 60-70mph
● Tornadoes (a few may be strong EF-2+)
● Large hail up to 2.00"

Another hazard will be very fast storm motions. Storms will potentially be moving very quickly tomorrow at speeds greater than 60mph! This means potentially less reaction time. Persons are encouraged to remain weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Coming to CVFD with great talent. 28 year old Probationary Member Anthony Kuhfahl joined CVFD to help his community. While being a father of 4 he is also a co-owner of All Star Roofing and Restoration. Always use the "PASS" method

"A" type extinguishers are generally for COMBUSTIBLES
"B" type extinguishers are generally for FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
"C" type extinguishers are generally for ELECTRIFIED COMPONENTS
"D" type extinguishers are generally METAL fire such as any metal that involves anything ending in "Ium" like magnesium, lithium, etc.
"K" type extinguishers are generally for "Grease" fires
