The Carthage Police Department would like to thank the Carthage Service League for their generous donation of LifeVac medical devices for our Patrol Units.

These devices provide officers with another important lifesaving tool that can be used during choking emergencies while serving our community. We greatly appreciate the continued support of organizations like the Carthage Service League and their commitment to helping keep our citizens safe.

Today we recognize and congratulate our very own Dispatch Telecommunicator Whitney Harrison (Thompson) for continuing her education and receiving the Shane Detwiler Criminal Justice Scholarship at Sam Houston State University, all while working full-time for our agency.

This scholarship honors Deputy Shane Detwiler, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on July 13, 2009. The scholarship, funded by The Shane Detwiler Foundation, was presented by Shane’s parents, Cheryl and Mark Railsback.
