๐Ÿ’ก Celebrating Innovation, Achievement, and Opportunity! ๐Ÿš€

Moore County Schools recently hosted its third annual STEM and Technology Awards Day, recognizing outstanding students, educators, and programs that are helping shape the future through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Congratulations to Pinecrest High School senior Reece Carlson and North Moore High School senior Emma Morgan, recipients of the 2026 Frick Technology Achievement Awards. Their accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to excellence exemplify the bright future of STEM education.

We congratulate the West Pine Middle School robotics team, โ€œZero Sugar Cherry Dr Pepper 2,โ€ for earning first place in the district's Middle School Robotics Competition by demonstrating exceptional programming, engineering, and problem-solving skills.

Additionally, we are proud to recognize Kathy Slate of The Community Learning Center at Pinckney as the 2026 STEM and Computer Science Teacher of the Year for her dedication to inspiring students through innovative and engaging learning experiences.

A special thank you to Mr. Ed Frick for his continued investment in our students and to Interim Superintendent Jenny Purvis for highlighting the importance of STEM education in preparing students for tomorrow's opportunities.

Together, we are empowering the next generation of innovators, creators, and problem-solvers.

๐ŸŽธ Ready to Rock the EOGs! ๐Ÿ’š

Today, McDeeds Creek Elementary students kicked off EOG season with an exciting pep rally featuring a performance from the 82nd Airborne Pop Band! The event was filled with energy, encouragement, and school spirit, helping students feel motivated and confident as they prepare to showcase all they have learned this year. ๐Ÿ‘

As EOGs and EOCs take place across Moore County Schools over the next couple of weeks, we want all of our students to know how proud we are of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance throughout the school year. These assessments are an opportunity to show growth, confidence, and everything they have accomplished.

To all of our students: believe in yourselves, do your best, stay focused, and remember that your teachers, families, and school communities are cheering you on every step of the way. Youโ€™ve got this! ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

This Memorial Day, Moore County Schools honors and remembers the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Their sacrifice has protected the freedoms we enjoy each day and serves as a lasting reminder of the true meaning of service, courage, and selflessness. We also hold our Gold Star families in our thoughts today and always, with deep gratitude for the sacrifices their families have made on behalf of our country.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage our community to pause and reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We honor them. We remember them. We thank them.

The future is bright in Moore County! ๐ŸŒŸ

Today, the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills hosted the 64th Junior Builders Cup, recognizing some of Moore Countyโ€™s most outstanding graduating seniors for excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, school involvement, and community service.

Congratulations to Evelyn Miller of Pinecrest High School, who was named the 2026 Junior Builders Cup recipient! Evelyn received a $3,500 scholarship and the distinguished silver bowl in recognition of this prestigious honor.

We also proudly congratulate this yearโ€™s exceptional nominees:
๐Ÿ† Rosemary Abella, North Moore High School
๐Ÿ† Emily Auman, Union Pines High School
๐Ÿ† Kennedi Hamner, The Oโ€™Neal School

Each nominee represented their school with excellence and spoke incredibly well during todayโ€™s program. Their leadership, character, and commitment to serving others are a true reflection of the remarkable students across Moore County.

A special highlight of todayโ€™s event was seeing 2025 Junior Builders Cup recipient and Pinecrest alumna Stella Apke return to help present the Cup to Evelyn, continuing a meaningful tradition that has honored student achievement since 1961.

Congratulations again to all four nominees on this incredible recognition, and thank you to the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills for continuing to invest in and celebrate our students!
