Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson and everyone at the Leake County Sheriff's Office would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the G.A. Carmichael Group for their thoughtful recognition during Law Enforcement Appreciation Week. Yesterday, our team was surprised and delighted when the G.A. Carmichael Group generously dropped off delicious lunch boxes, sweet tea, and lemonade for our Sheriff, deputies, investigators, and office staff.

Gestures like these truly mean a lot to our department and remind us how much we are supported by our wonderful community. We are grateful for your kindness and continued partnership. Thank you for making us feel appreciated and for helping us serve Leake County with pride!

PLUG DOWN!

Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson is proud to say that after hours of diligent work by deputies, investigators, and MBN agents, a large quantity of drugs was taken off the streets. This plug (drug dealer), Quincy Hughes, won’t be slinging anytime soon, as his merchandise has been confiscated and he was taken into custody. Deputies seized 395 grams of m**h, 54 grams of spice, 10 grams of ma*****na, and 5 fi****ms from a house off Pearl Hill Road in Leake County, MS. The m**h recovered was 58 grams shy of a pound and has a street value of about $10k. No one was injured during the arrest, and public safety remained deputies' top concern throughout the operation.

If you think your plug is shorting you, please contact the Leake County Sheriff’s Office so we can crack down on your plug. These tips are never unwanted, and anything could lead to an arrest like this.

Change is inevitable. The Leake County Regional Correctional Facility is seeing its own version of this old story.

Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson has tapped Spencer Pankey to step up from Deputy Warden to Warden, as Warden Horn has left for a new position. Warden Pankey is no stranger to the place or its routines, and those who have worked alongside him seem to think he’ll keep the operation running as flawlessly as anyone can. Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson is confident that Warden Pankey will serve Leake County well.
