As students head back to the classroom, it’s a great time to get the whole family back into a healthy routine! A few simple habits can help kids feel their best and be ready to learn:

😴 Get plenty of sleep each night
🥪 Start the day with a healthy breakfast
💧 Drink plenty of water
🧼 Wash hands often to help stop the spread of germs
🏃 Make time for physical activity
🦷 Stay up to date on physicals, dental exams & immunizations
🤧 Stay home when sick to help keep classmates healthy

Back-to-school shopping is about more than just school supplies. Add a few health essentials to your list, too. 🎒

🧴 Hand sanitizer
Keep some in a backpack or classroom supply kit for when soap and water aren't handy.
🧻 Tissues
A classroom essential — especially during cold and flu season.
💧 Reusable water bottle
Staying hydrated helps students feel and perform their best.
🧴 Sunscreen
Still needed for outdoor recess, sports and activities — even after summer ends.
🩹 A small first-aid kit
Bandages and basic supplies can come in handy for everyday scrapes and bumps.

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone as we wish our Home Health Director, Teresa Gilbert, a very happy retirement! 💙

For the past 8 years, Teresa has been a dedicated part of the Hancock County Health Department, leading our Home Health team with compassion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to caring for others. She has also devoted an amazing 45 years to the nursing profession, touching countless lives along the way.

Teresa, thank you for your years of service, your leadership, and the kindness you’ve shown to our patients, coworkers, and community. Your impact will be felt for years to come.
