Yesterday, in Hamlet with North Carolina Cooperative Extension Montgomery County and Richmond County 4-H we hosted the 2026 Regional Chicken Show🐓

We had many participants from Moore County participate in the showmanship, market, and project record books! Each 4-H'er was given the option of an Easter Egger, Cuckoo Maran, or Broiler! Over the past few months, they have been raising their chickens at home, completed their record books to document the process, and culminated the experience by participating in the show!

This year we had tons of youth place from Moore County!!!

Thank you to our volunteers who served as judges throughout the day. Your support means the world to us!

We are looking forward to District Activity Day with Stanly County 4-H in June!

Last Thursday, our 4-H Program Assistant, Emily Carson, and Moore County Livestock Agent, Liz Joseph, attended Sandhills Farm Life Heritage Day! Emily and Liz had a wonderful time with the 4th-grade classrooms, teaching them about dairy cows and how to make their very own butter 🐄

Want to make your own butter at home? All you need is some heavy cream, plastic bags, or a mason jar. Simply add your cream to a bag or jar and shake! In just a few minutes, you will have butter. Add some salt, and you will be all ready to butter up a warm slice of bread!🍀
