Carthage Fire & Rescue is currently accepting applications for a Full-Time Driver/Operator position.

We are looking for motivated, dedicated individuals ready to serve the Town of Carthage with professionalism and pride. This position plays a critical role in emergency response, including operating fire apparatus, performing pump operations, and supporting fire suppression, rescue, and EMS activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
• NC Firefighter Certification
• Driver/Operator Certification
• Valid Class B Driver’s License (or higher)
• EMT-B Certification

Responsibilities include:
• Safe operation and maintenance of fire apparatus
• Performing pump operations at emergency scenes
• Daily equipment and apparatus checks
• Supporting all emergency response functions

The SCC Fire Academy is now accepting applications for the Spring semester starting January 12, 2026. Future firefighters will become certified in Firefighter I/II, Hazardous Material Ops and Technical Rescuer. This program incorporates EMT-Basic and prepares you to sit for the state certification exam. Current Volunteers with Fire Departments get FREE tuition.
