Start your morning with a summer birding adventure at Downtown Cary Park! ๐Ÿฆ

Designed to connect people and nature, the Park has become home to an incredible variety of wildlife โ€” with more than 96 bird species observed so far.

Join us on June 1 or June 17 for an early morning bird walk and explore the birds that call the Park home during the summer season. Along the way, learn from Cary staff about local bird species, habitats, and the natural features that support urban wildlife right in the heart of downtown.

We're helping our community be water-wise with rainwater harvesting! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ In fact, 262 new rain barrels were purchased through our annual online sale.

These units help manage smaller volumes of rooftop runoff by capturing rainwater that can later be reused for landscaping.

The bins are in!๐ŸŽ‰

Thanks to our eco-conscious community members, 131 new compost bins are being distributed this month from our annual online sale.

These units will convert food scraps from kitchens across town, helping grow gardens instead of sending them to landfills.

Don't worry if you missed us; our friends at Wake County Waste and Recycling are hosting their own compost bin sale through May 31.

Stay cool with this summertime home weatherization tip!๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐ŸŒก๏ธHigh temperatures have HVAC units working overtime. Did you know you can reduce your cooling costs by improving your home's energy efficiency?

โœ…Consider switching to a thicker filter. One-inch filters reduce airflow, straining HVAC equipment. A thicker, two- to five-inch pleated filter offers excellent filtration without overworking the main blower.

Learn more about the many actions you can take to reduce the environmental impacts of your home's energy usage from this resource guide provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at
