A couple of our rangers were able to witness a female Blanding’s turtle laying her eggs last night. The area will be marked to protect the eggs as they are easily poached by other wildlife. Baby Blanding’s turtles usually hatch 60-90 days after being laid. We will update if we are able to witness the hatching!

Keep an eye out if you are walking our trails the next few days, the Blanding’s turtles are on the move looking for good nesting grounds.

Currently, the Sanilac Petroglyphs hiking trail is partially impassable. Parts of the trail are underwater with a very swift current. Please be cautious if venturing out until the water levels recede.
