Rest Easy, Dallas 🐾
K-9 Dallas began his service with the Caseyville Police Department in 2014, when he was just one year old. His first handler was former Deputy Chief Pirtle, who partnered with Dallas from 2014–2017 while serving as a Task Force Officer with the DEA.
In 2017, Dallas began his partnership with former Sergeant Wiley, who remained his handler until Dallas retired in 2024. During those years, Dallas was much more than a K-9—he was Sergeant Wiley’s partner and constant companion.
Together, they patrolled the Village of Caseyville and trained and responded alongside one another during SWAT trainings and call-outs.
After retiring in 2024, Dallas remained by Sergeant Wiley’s side and became an important part of his family. Dallas peacefully ended his watch today, September 10, 2026.
The bond between a K-9 and his handler is something that cannot easily be put into words. The years of trust, sacrifice, loyalty, and companionship create a bond that runs deep—not only between the K-9 and his handler, but with the entire family.
K-9s are not just an asset. They are partners. They are family.
Please keep both of Dallas’s handlers and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. The loss of a partner like Dallas leaves an immeasurable void.
