More Pets Get Lost On July 4th Than Any Other Day Of The Year!
Here are a few suggestions to keep your pet safe!
*Take a current photo of your pet, just in case, and make sure they are wearing an up to date and visible ID tag on their collar at all times… make sure that the collar won’t slide over their head! If your pet is microchipped, make sure that your information is up to date with the company. This includes your phone number and address. If your pet winds up at animal control, it will buy them 10 days!
*If your pet is afraid of loud noises, put them in an escape proof room during parties and fireworks. You can make a little den for them and play gentle music to help cover up the sound of the fireworks. To keep them preoccupied, a frozen treat will always do the trick, too!
*Don’t take your pets along to firework displays… they’ll feel more safe and happy in the comfort of their own homes.
*Try to exercise your pet, early in the day, before the parties begin.
*Keep charcoal, fireworks, glow sticks and sparklers away from curious pets.
*During cookouts, ask your guests to play with your pet away from the flames.
*If scared, many pets can escape from a fenced in yard. It might be safer just to keep them on a leash.
