Natrona County Law Enforcement to Host 5th Annual Police Week Block Party

Casper, Wyoming (April 21, 2026) – Law enforcement agencies from across Natrona County will come together on Wednesday, May 13, for the 5th Annual Police Week Block Party, taking place from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at David Street Station. The event is free and open to the public.

Held during National Police Week, the block party is a chance for the community to spend time with the people behind the badge in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

This year’s event will include a free BBQ served by leadership from agencies across the county, along with a live DJ, games for kids, face painting, and giveaways throughout the evening. Patrol vehicles and specialized equipment will also be on display, giving residents a chance to take a closer look and ask questions.

The event is designed to support continued engagement between law enforcement and the community, reinforcing the importance of communication, visibility, and strong working relationships that contribute to public safety across Natrona County.

“We look forward to this event every year,” said Casper Chief of Police Shane Chaney. “It’s a chance to spend time with the community in a different way and recognize the partnerships that help keep Natrona County safe.”

The Police Week Block Party continues to grow each year and remains a simple but meaningful way to bring people together in recognition of service, connection, and shared responsibility for community safety.

Community members are encouraged to stop by, bring their families, and be part of the evening.

Investigators Seek the Public's Help in Unattended Death Investigation

Natrona County, Wyoming (May 14, 2026) – The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public that may assist an ongoing unattended death investigation.

On April 8, 2026, deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male in the Coal Mountain Road area. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male who was later positively identified by the Natrona County Coroner’s Office as 52-year-old Eddy Angelo Fernandez of Casper. Mr. Fernandez was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Natrona County Coroner’s Office has notified Mr. Fernandez’s next of kin, and autopsy results remain pending.

Over the past several weeks, investigators have worked extensively to track Mr. Fernandez’s movements and interactions in the days prior to his death. Mr. Fernandez was experiencing homelessness at the time of his death, and investigators continue working to establish a complete timeline and determine the circumstances surrounding why he was in the Coal Mountain area. Evidence gathered thus far does not indicate this to be a homicide investigation, and there is no known threat to the public.

Investigators are specifically asking the public for information related to Mr. Fernandez’s whereabouts, interactions, or activity between April 3 and April 8, 2026, including:
-Locations where Mr. Fernandez was staying or living
-Locations where Mr. Fernandez was seen
-Individuals who interacted with Mr. Fernandez
-Witnesses who observed any unusual persons, vehicles, or activity in the area of Coal Mountain Road

Information may be shared with our Investigations Division by emailing Investigator Brooks at [email protected] or calling 307-235-9282. Information may also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming by calling 307-577-8477 or visiting crimestopperscasper.org.

The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is committed to preserving the peace of our county and ensuring it is a safe place to live, work, and visit.

We recently had the privilege of spending time with citizens at the Casper Senior Center while Sheriff Harlin and Undersheriff Olson served as judges for their ugly Christmas sweater contest.

From sharing stories and laughs to picking out the best, worst sweaters, this visit was a reminder of how important it is to stay connected with the very people who helped build the community we serve today. Thank you to the folks at the Casper Senior Center for the warm welcome!

We wish all residents of Natrona County a safe and Merry Christmas!

Our downtown administrative office is closed on Thursday, December 24th, and Friday, December 25th. Regular business hours resume on Monday, December 29th. As always, our deputies remain on patrol to help keep our community safe. We’re here if you need us.
