The next cohort hosted by Climb Wyoming- Casper will launch in August! Are you a single mom who is ready to take the next step toward a rewarding medical career?

CORE PROGRAM COMPONENT #5- Follow up with a Focus on Sustainability

Climb’s relationships with participants don’t end when they walk out the door. Ongoing support is essential to help with the loss of benefits due to increased wages. We set participants up for long-term success by investing in skill development – and lasting relationships.

Post-program follow-up and support looks like:
🧡 offering ongoing “open door” support
🤍creating a system for quarterly communication and follow-up for up to two years
🧡listening to needs and reconnecting participants to community support
🤍utilizing group relationships to share resources and networking
🧡continuing skill development and building social capital

CORE PROGRAM COMPONENT #4- Match for Career Fit & Mobility

Matching participants to good jobs with career pathways that support economic mobility is the key to sustainability. This core program component is equal parts about the employer and the participant. How to ensure a great fit from the start, and a fit that sustains into the future?

Climb builds relationships with participants by:
💪identifying strengths
👩‍🏫 facilitating job skill and executive functioning skill-building
👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 understanding family needs and priorities
👂 listening for interests and obstacles

Building relationships with employer partners requires learning about their:
🟠 work environment and culture
⚪️ expectations of job skills
🟠 structure and responsibilities of the position
⚪️ wages and opportunities for advancement

Living as a single parent can be isolating. Peer support, parenting skills, and mental health services are not easily available to families.

What does this support look like in practice?

🤲 providing ongoing training to support staff in facilitating a psychologically safe environment
👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 engaging in group work to expedite learning, support, and build community

Meeting the specific needs of a local workforce with highly trained and motivated employees builds trust and mutually beneficial relationships – with employers who are excited to hire participants again and again.

Cultivating employer partnerships looks like:
👷‍♀️ prioritizing in-demand industries localized to a community
👩‍⚕️ utilizing input from employers to meet specific workforce needs; for example: school bus driver, heating/ventilation/air conditioning technician, legal assistant
🤝 building mutually beneficial employer relationships by meeting employment needs with skilled employees

#1: Train Beyond Job Skills
Effective training goes beyond just job skills. Climb’s programs include 6-8 weeks of industry-specific skills training in high-growth industries alongside 12 weeks of executive functioning and life skills development. Skills evolve with practice in real-world situations during and after the program.

While participants are preparing for their careers, they receive training in:
-industry-specific skills
-communication strategies
-building healthy relationships
-conflict resolution

In a cohort-based program with:
-weekly meetings
-individual & group counseling
-parenting skills development and peer support
-space to practice executive functioning skills

After just three months of training within a community of support, Climb graduates are starting new careers and discovering new lives. After two years, they are continuing an upward trend, earning self-sufficient wages and benefits that allow them to transition off public assistance and provide financial stability for their children. Single moms and their children have the highest rate of poverty in Wyoming. When a mom moves out of poverty, it has a ripple effect on her whole family. Her resilience and strength impacts her children’s lives, schools, communities, and Wyoming’s economy for generations to come.

Happy Independence Day!

As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks, barbecues, and family gatherings, it’s important to remember that this holiday is also one of the deadliest on our roads.
🚗In 2023, 233 people died in drunk driving crashes during the July 4th holiday period.

Please remember to designate a sober driver. And if you find yourself without a sober ride home, call Natrona County Safe Ride! They will get you home safely!
