Wyoming CARES (Charity Agency for RESidents of Wyoming) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit started in 2001 with a mission to help Wyoming residents in need, and to fill needed gaps in assistance throughout the state. Attempting to catch middle-income and other folks who fall through the cracks of traditional assistance, Wyoming CARES had helped more than 2060 Wyoming residents in 93 communities across the state.
Wyoming CARES has a single office in Casper that serves the entire state. With only two paid employees on staff, the agency relies on hundreds of volunteers across the state who help raise funds for members of their community. Wyoming CARES is entirely volunteer supported, with a state-wide volunteer Board of Directors and a Professional Review Committee who review applications for assistance. Wyoming CARES
Wyoming CARES is proud to have made such a significant difference in Wyoming, both through our assistance and our many community--centered fundraisers. The Ride With the Winds Bike Tour, now in it’s 32nd year, is put on and supported by Wyoming CARES in a different location in the state every year. Locations we have done in the past include Wheatland, Casper, Riverton, Greybull, and more. The Rocky Mountain Art Show and Auction is put on every year in May with a featured artist who donates a piece specifically painted for the Auction, of which attendees receive a signed lithographic print. A large number of showcase artists from the Rocky Mountain region also donate original and reproduced art in a number of media.
Wyoming CARES has traditionally put on many family oriented events around the state as well, including The Father/Son Duct Tape Duel (in Cheyenne, Casper, and Gillette) the Father Daughter Social (Casper and Cheyenne) and the Teddy Bear Tea. All money raised at our events goes to support Wyoming CARES mission, and all money raised in Wyoming stays in Wyoming.
