Here are our Labor Day weekend services and hours. Emergency services as well as our critical water and wastewater treatment plants will maintain their regular around the clock hours. Our solid waste crews will collect garbage as usual on Monday, and many of our other crews will be on call to respond as needed. Ft. Caspar has a Smithsonian exhibit, Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, and is open all weekend as is the Municipal Golf Course, 44 parks, 54 playground areas, 4 all-user boat ramps, and miles of trails.

The details:
• Trash collection will run on the normal schedule.
• Casper Regional Solid Waste Facility: Open 7:30 am to 1:00 pm
• Police Patrol, Fire-EMS, and 911 Dispatch: Regular hours.
• Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants: Regular hours.
• Water distribution, sewer, streets, parks, fleet services, and public facilities crews on call for emergencies.
• Metro Animal Services Patrol Officers (APOs): Available 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.by calling non-emergency dispatch at 307.235.8278. Outside those regular hours, APOs are on call for emergencies by calling 911.
• Fort Caspar Museum: Open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day.
• Casper Municipal Golf Course: Open normal hours, 1st tee time is 7:00 a.m.
• Highland Park Cemetery: Grounds open dawn to dusk with burial search map signs.
• Casper Area Transit, operated by the City of Casper: no services on Monday.
• Metro Animal Shelter: Closed.
• Casper Ice Arena: Closed for public skate. Open only for a tournament.
• Casper Family Aquatic Center: Closed.
• Casper Recreation Center: Closed.

🚧 Downtown Alley Paving Project Begins September 9 🚧

The Alleys between First and Second Streets, and Center to Durbin Streets, will be under construction September 9th – October 30th.

🪙 This Natrona County One Cent-Funded Project, includes repaving the alleys, improving drainage, reducing flood risk, and installing solar wall pack lighting. The project will be completed in two overlapped phases, beginning approximately a week apart.

⛔️ Residents and visitors should expect alley and sidewalk closures, along with traffic control on nearby streets.

📅 Public Meeting: September 8 at 5:30 p.m.

Big SHOUT OUT and HUGE THANK YOU to Banner Wyoming Medical Center Emergency Department staff who came out after their overnight shift to help Casper Parks staff fill holes made by ground squirrels in a youth sports practice area. This is their 3rd early morning volunteer project this summer! Thank you for keeping Casper beautiful and safe. By the way, this sports practice space and all athletic fields in Casper enjoyed by youth more than 120,000 times per year are funded by Natrona One Cent Sales Tax.

UPDATE: As of 6:40 a.m. Center Street underpass is open.

Good news! The Center Street railroad underpass will open to traffic at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026. The concrete is poured and must cure before vehicles can drive on it. Sewer division crews will clean the two stormwater pipes so that the repaired storm drains function properly.

This underpass flooded during heavy rainstorms, as they were only working at 20% capacity. The project is funded by Natrona One Cent Sales Tax. According to Natrona County residents surveyed in the 2026 City of Casper and Natrona County One Percent Sales Tax Survey, drainage and flood prevention is the second priority that should receive fifth cent funding. Street repairs is the first priority.

Second Street between Conwell and Washington Streets will be closed intermittently in both directions for construction work at Banner Wyoming Medical Center.

📅 Closure Times:
August 28th (6 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
September 1 – September 4th (7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

Detours, Signage, and assistance for emergency room access will be provided. Please use alternate routes, and drive carefully in the area. 🚧🏥

As we celebrate our four-legged friends, remember that pet waste is more than a nuisance. It can spread harmful parasites and bacteria that impact people, pets, and our environment. One ounce of dog p**p can contain 652 million bacteria 💩

👀 Roundworms → cause blindness
🤢 Giardia & E. Coli → cause stomach illnesses
⚠️ Toxoplasmosis → dangerous during pregnancy

🤎 Do Your Part to Keep Casper Clean and Healthy:
✅ Bring it. Always carry multiple p**p bags.
✅ Scoop it. Pick up your dog’s p**p and tie the bag tight.
