NORTH PLATTE RIVER WEEKEND UPDATE
October 17–18, 2026

💧 GREY REEF FLOW: AROUND 500 CFS
Grey Reef continues to hold around the 500 CFS mark, and fall fishing is settling into a great rhythm. Cooler water, low flows and October conditions are giving anglers plenty of opportunity across the system.

🎣 FISHING HIGHLIGHTS
Nymphing is currently the most dependable approach, with midges, BWOs, Tricos and a few caddis still in the mix. Leeches, annelids and worm patterns are solid attractor choices, with smaller RS2s and midge patterns worth trailing behind. St. Peter's Fly Shop
And don’t put away the streamer box. October streamer fishing continues to be a great option, especially for anglers looking to tempt some of the bigger, more aggressive fall trout. Grey Reef Anglers and Wingshooting

Saturday: Sunny and very windy, with a high near 65°F. Southwest winds 23–28 mph with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph.
Sunday: Sunny and calmer, with a high near 63°F. Winds generally 5–14 mph with gusts up to 23 mph.

Saturday will definitely test your casting skills, but Sunday is shaping up to be a beautiful October day on the North Platte. Bundle up for the cool morning, bring the fall fly box, and enjoy another weekend on the Reef!
