Before you post those first-day-of-school photos, take a second look.

A child’s name, teacher, grade, school, or other personal details may seem innocent on their own, but together they can give someone with bad intentions far more information than they should have.

Celebrate the milestone!

But if you want to share your first-day photos online, consider keeping those unique details off social media. Share those special memories privately with family and friends instead.

Be like KJ… think before you post!

🚨 SCAM ALERT – FAKE WARRANTS & GIFT CARD PAYMENTS 🚨

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing scam involving fake warrants and demands for payment using Chime cards or other prepaid/gift cards.

Scammers may claim you have an outstanding warrant, missed jury duty, or owe money to the court. They may even use the name and information of an actual law enforcement officer to make the call sound legitimate. They may threaten arrest if you do not pay immediately.

👉 Law enforcement will NOT call you and demand payment for a warrant using Chime cards, gift cards, prepaid cards, cryptocurrency, or similar methods.

If you receive a call like this:
• Do not send money or provide card numbers, PINs, or personal information.
• Hang up and do not call the number provided by the scammer.
• If you are concerned about a warrant, contact the court or law enforcement agency directly using an official phone number.
• Remember: Scammers rely on fear and urgency to get you to act before you have time to verify the information.

If someone is demanding payment to “clear” a warrant, it’s a scam.

Please share this post with family and friends, especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

Sheriff Roach wants to remind everyone that school will be back in session soon, and that means more children, school buses, pedestrians, and increased traffic on our roads.

Please slow down, stay alert, and watch for kids as they head to and from school.

Remember:
🚌 Stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
🚸 Watch carefully in school zones and near bus stops.
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
🚗 Give yourself extra time and be patient during the morning and afternoon rush.

A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who participated, $500 was raised for our unit. These funds will help us continue providing support, resources, and assistance to victims in our community.
