Our thoughts and prayers are with the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, family, and friends of the deputy who was shot at the incident at Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City. The deputy is in critical condition. The suspect was apprehended.

Update from another source:
Deputy Jon Samuelson is in critical condition at a hospital in South Bend, after being shot three times, according to Indiana State Police officials. He’s a 12-year veteran of the Laporte County Sheriff’s office, a K9 handler, and is part of a family of service in our area.

His grandfather is a former Chief of police for Laporte and his father was an officer with Michigan City police dept., who’s now working security at the hospital where his son was shot.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
