Roaring River weekly update for 8/14-8/17/2026
Fishing Times: 7am-8pm.

It's been a HOT week here at Roaring River, and the heat continues into the weekend. An Extreme Heat Advisory is in effect through Sunday. If you are planning a visit to the park have a plan to stay cool and hydrated. If you need a place to cool off drop by the Nature Center or enjoy some historic Roaring River photos on display in the Emory Melton Inn lobby.

Family Fishing Day is Saturday, see schedule of events & map below. Roaring River Adventures is running a free kid's meal special at the Restaurant at the Emory Melton Inn on Saturday - see details below. Plus, you can always cool off with some of the best ice cream around at the Park Store!

Saturday Night is Movie Night in Zone 1, hosted by the Cassville Branch Library & Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce. Movie will be setup in the grassy area just downstream of the playground. Concessions will start at 7:30pm and the movie will begin at dusk. Plan to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

We're just one week away from Family Fishing Day! Join Missouri State Parks for a new twist on an old tradition! The August Kids Fishing Day is now Family Fishing Day. Here is what you need to know:
-Fish will be stocked throughout the day in both Zone 1 & 2.
-Need fishing gear? Not a problem! Loaner rods and tackle will be available.
-Don't have a clue how to trout fish? Not a problem! Join a Learn2 Trout Fish class to learn the basics.
-Need a spot to take a break? Not a problem! Activities will take place across the park throughout the day and conclude with a movie under the stars at 8pm.
-Kids 15 and under can pick up their free fishing tag at the park store beginning at 7pm on August 14, and anytime on August 15.
-All other anglers 16-64 will need a fishing license and daily trout tag, purchase at the Park Store.
-Daily limits and all other regulations still apply.

WOW school at Roaring River State Park teaches outdoor skills in a hands-on learning environment, with classes taught by outdoor professionals. This year's WOW school is October 9-11, registration opens at 9am on August 11, spots fill fast! To learn more about WOW school visit:

Roaring River Weekly Update for 8/7-8/9/2026
August Fishing Hours: 7am-8pm

It's been hot and dry this week, we received one very quick passing rain shower, but the stream is still running clear - see video below.

The weekend looks to be hot with temperatures in the mid-90s, if you are planning a visit have a plan to remain hydrated and stay cool. The Nature Center is always a great place to be the heat, weekend schedule below.

Roaring River Adventures is offering an August lodging special, see poster below. Did you know you can order pizza to-go from the Emory Melton Inn Restaurant!?! If you don't want to cook over the campfire this weekend, give them a call, 417-847-2330.

Roaring River Weekly Update for 7/31 - 8/2/2026
July Fishing Hours: 6:30am-8:30pm
August Fishing Hours: 7:00am-8:00pm

The river is at 57 cfs. It’s in great shape for the weekend and running clear.

We have a small chance of rain tonight with cooler temperatures for the rest of the weekend.

The Emory Melton Inn will be the place to be this weekend! Tonight we will host the ever-popular trivia night. Plus the Sunday morning breakfast buffet is back!

The Nature Center has plenty of programs this weekend, see schedule below.

If you're looking for a place to swim the City of Cassville Aquatic is a great place to be. Also give the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce a follow to see what else is happening "up the hill."

Roaring River State Park remains under an extreme heat warning. If you are camping or planning a visit, please have a plan in place to remain cool and hydrated.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect today for locations along and south of a Joplin to Springfield to Salem, MO line where heat index values up to 105 to 115 degrees are expected. A Heat Advisory is in effect for locations north of the line today where heat index values up to around 105 degrees are expected.
