Meeting Information:

• The Margaretta Township Board of Trustees meets on the first and third Thursday of each month (7:00 pm).
• All meetings are held at the Township Hall, 114 Main Street, Castalia, Ohio 44824.
• Residents who wish to address the Board of Trustees at a regular or special meeting must sign the Open Forum sheet before the start of the meeting.
• Meeting dates and agendas are subject to change. Please contact the Township office at (419) 684-9500 to verify date and time. Zoning Department Hours:

Park Board Meeting Information:
Park and Recreation board meetings are conducted every third Monday of each month at 7:00p.m. In the event of inclement weather, meetings are moved to Margaretta Township Hall at 114 Main Street, Castalia, Ohio. Park Board Contact Information:

Margaretta Township owns and maintains 3 cemeteries and shares ownership with Groton, Oxford and Perkins Townships for Sandhill Cemetery. Hours are by appointment only.

Good morning! It’s hard to believe but the school year is already upon us and some Erie County districts start classes this week, with other districts to follow in the next few weeks. With the start of the school year, we’ll be seeing buses on the roads throughout Erie County again, along with students—some very young—waiting alongside the road to be picked up in the morning or getting off of the bus at their stops in the afternoon. We ask that you please allow extra travel time in anticipation of potential slight travel delays due to bus and/or school traffic, exercise caution while driving while watching for children along the road, and obey school zone reduced speed limits. Below is a reminder of the requirements regarding stopping for school buses when they are picking up or dropping off children. Best wishes to everyone for a safe and successful academic year!

🍂Cemetery clean up will begin October 1st. Please remove all items on the ground and on top of the monuments before then. We will post when clean up is complete.

A few reminders for property owners in Margaretta Township.

Margaretta Township follows the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC).

IPMC 302.4 Grass & Weeds - Premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of 12 inches. Noxious weeds shall be prohibited. Weeds shall be defined as all grasses, annual plants and vegetation, other than trees or shrubs provided; however, this term shall not include cultivated flowers and gardens.

IPMC 302.8 Motor vehicles. - Except as provided for in other regulations, inoperative or unlicensed motor vehicles shall not be parked, kept or stored on any premises, and vehicles shall not at any time be in a state of major disassembly, disrepair, or in the process of being stripped or dismantled. Painting of vehicles is prohibited unless conducted inside an approved spray booth.

We had a wonderful time pulling the Wreaths Across America float at yesterday's Castalia Cold Creek Celebration! It was great seeing so many familiar faces and being part of such a wonderful community event.

A huge THANK YOU to the Margaretta Township Fire Department! ❤️🚒🚑

We're so grateful for the firefighters who took time out of their day to bring the fire truck and ambulance out for the festival for Touch-a-Truck!

They'll be out at the end of Main St. by BP for the next few hours - be sure to stop out!
